Automatic Twister for Drilling – Ciancaleoni Fast Jointing System
Choosing a fully mechanical operating system makes the Ciancaleoni Auto Drive Head exceptionally simple, reliable and efficient. The absence of a traditional screwing system eliminates components subject to frequent wear and significantly reduces maintenance needs, while making assembly and disassembly operations faster and easier for the operator.
The procedures required to connect or release the drilling string at the end of the job are minimal, intuitive and can be performed quickly on site. To begin, the Auto Drive Head is positioned on the tube by aligning the centering keys, which are designed to ensure a precise and immediate connection.
Next, the rotary head is pushed towards the casing string and rotated clockwise. This movement causes the internal piston (highlighted in the technical drawing by a red arrow) to shift from position 1 (green) to position 2 (red). As the piston moves, hydraulic pressure is generated and the quick-lock couplings are securely closed, locking the tube column without the need for additional hydraulic or electronic systems.
To release the casing string, the procedure is simply reversed: the rotary is lowered and rotated counter-clockwise, allowing the piston to return to its initial position and unlocking the column.
The connection joint—shown in yellow in the technical drawing—is bolted directly onto the body of the Auto Drive Head. This configuration allows full interchangeability with tubes of different diameters, offering a clear operational advantage and reducing equipment management costs. The system is compatible with both larger and smaller diameters while maintaining the same high level of precision, locking strength and operational safety.
The entirely mechanical design ensures durability, stability and reliability even in demanding jobsite conditions, making the Ciancaleoni Auto Drive Head an optimal solution for operators seeking efficiency, speed and extremely low maintenance requirements.
